Leaving staff

  • Set up email forwarding and/or automatic reply if required.
  • Handover project account(s) and setup 2FA if required (especially if the account(s) is accessible only by the leaving staff). Multiple 2FA devices can be linked to one project account, therefore it is possible for more than one colleague to setup 2FA for a single project account.

To setup email forwarding:

  • Login to Outlook Web Access https://outlook.office.com
  • Click on the “gear” icon on the top-right, enter “forwarding” in the search box then click on “Forwarding”.
  • Click on the “Enable forwarding” checkbox, enter the email address to forward to, then click on “Save”.

To setup automatic reply:

  • Login to Outlook Web Access https://outlook.office.com
  • Click on the “gear” icon on the top-right, enter “auto” in the search box then click on “Automatic replies”.
  • Switch “Automatic replies on”, make settings as required then click on “Save”.

Lab rules and policies

  • The BA PC Lab is for the use of BA faculty, BA staff and BA students only.
  • User accounts and passwords are not transferable. Giving away user account and password to others is strictly prohibited.
  • BA courses that require computing facilities for teaching have higher priority to use the PC Lab. Users should always refer to the lab reservation schedule posted on the door to plan their work. Also, users are required to leave the lab area 10 minutes before the scheduled class begins.
  • Users should bring their own USB Memory Key / DVD-R / DVD-RW for data storage.
  • Users should not attempt to write data to the LAN server, nor to copy files from the LAN.
  • Alien software, computer games and non-course related work are prohibited.
  • No foul/rough language or gesture.
  • No drinking, eating or smoking.
  • Equipment should be handled with care. Users are liable for damages caused by negligence.
  • Software reference manuals are for in-lab reading only.
  • Help keep the lab areas clean and tidy.
  • Report any malfunction of workstations or printers to consultant on duty immediately.
  • No manual feeding to any printer is allowed, use only paper supplied by the lab.
  • Users who fail to meet the rules will have their names recorded and reported. Their accounts could be suspended for a period of time as decided by the BA PC Lab Committee.

Forgot password

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can submit a password reset form. Please come to the lab office counter during office hours to submit the form in person.

Please present your student ID card for verification when submitting the password reset form. No other forms of identification will be accepted.

* Password reset will take ONE working day.

New password will be sent to your @link email on the next working day.

Accounts for non-BA major / exchange students

Non-BA major or exchange students taking any BA course that requires to use the lab can apply for a lab account.

You will need to fill in the Individual / Temporary User Account Application form (can be obtained at the lab counter or downloaded here). The form must be endorsed by a BA staff, deparment or program office. Endorsement by non-BA units will not be accepted.

Please submit a hard copy of the form in person at the lab office counter during office hours. Your student ID card is required for verification when submitting the account application form. No other forms of identification will be accepted.

* Account creation will take ONE working day.

Login information will be sent to your @link email on the next working day.

Accounts for 2023 year one students

BA Lab account details have been sent to year one BA undergraduate students by email. Please check the @link email account for email subject “CUHK BA Lab account information 2023″.

For queries, Please proceed to the BA Lab counter at room 406, Cheng Yu Tung Building.

 

Using Apple TV to project your iPad or iPhone in PC Lab Room 613

1. Connect your iPad or iPhone to SSID CUHK, CUHK1x or eduroam (click here for connection guide).

2. Switch on AV equipment.

3. Select Visual Presenter as source.

4. Press on the “computer” button on the visualizer. Press on the “light bulb” button to switch off the light on the visualizer.

5. Apple TV will show on the projection screen.

6. Swipe up from the bottom edge of your iPad or iPhone to open Control Center.

7. Tap on AirPlay Mirroring then balab_cyt613 to connect.

8. The connection code will be shown on the projection screen. Enter the code to your iPad or iPhone.

9. Connection established.
